Twitter’s Humorous Reaction On P*rn Site Ban, Other ISPs Also Banned Adult Sites

A total of 827 websites that host adult contents were banned by Reliance Jio.

After Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and other Internet Service Providers (ISP) have banned websites that host adult contents. Last week, Reliance Jio blocked 827 porn sites. The telecom operators have taken this step following an order from Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The High Court of Uttarakhand issued an order on September 27, 2018 to ban 857 websites but Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) didn’t find any objectionable content in 30 websites. So, MeitY ordered DoT to block the remaining 827 websites.

Reliance Jio is the first telecom company to follow the order. It is being said that other telecom operators will also follow the suit.

There are still some methods through which people can access the porn sites such as using VPNs or proxy sites. When Reliance Jio took this step, Jio users started thinking of switching to another operator, but now it won’t be of any use as the other telecom operators have decided to follow the order and blocking the websites. There is a widespread protest going on the social media.
