Thugs Of Hindostan Box Office Collection Day 3: Aamir Khan Film Enters Rs 100-Crore Club

Thugs Of Hindostan crossed the Rs 100-crore mark at the box office within three days of its release.

Despite being unanimously panned by critics, Vijay Krishna Acharya’s action-adventure film Thugs Of Hindostan has managed to enter the Rs 100-crore club within three days of its release.

The film, which features Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles, earned Rs 52 crore (including Tamil and Telugu-dubbed versions) at the box office on its first day and became the biggest opener of 2018, so far.

However, it witnessed a dip in its collection on its second day, and raked in Rs 29.25 crore. On Saturday, Thugs Of Hindostan took a further hit and earned Rs 22.75 crore. With this, the film’s total collection stands at Rs 105 crore.

Thugs Of Hindostan released across a whopping 7000 screens worldwide, and its ticket prices also witnessed a hike of at least ten per cent. Reportedly, the prices in multiplexes ranged from Rs 400 to Rs 1,500, while the average price in single screens went up to Rs 200.

In a massive blow to the makers, the entire film was leaked online in HD print by the piracy website TamilRockers. This also made a huge dent in the collection of the film.

Thugs Of Hindostan revolves around the “thugs” led by the fierce Khudabaksh (Amitabh Bachchan), who pose a threat to the John Clive-led East India Company in 1795 Hindostan. The British recruit Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) to infiltrate the band of rebels and get them the leader of the thugs.

Thugs Of Hindostan, which has Aamir and Amitabh sharing screen space for the first time, was one of the most anticipated films of 2018 but it turned out to be a damp squib, if the reviews and the faltering box office figures are anything to go by.
